Accounting Director

Department: Accounting/Finance Brentwood - 5000
Location:

Position Summary

The Director, Accounting is responsible for analytical insights within the accounting and finance department in addition to performing day-to-day, month end, and year end accounting close activities for the Company.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads and reviews the accrual accounting processes including revenue, reserve accruals, treasury, and Company specific other income/expense streams, etc.

  • Reviews/prepares and approves monthly journal entries and account reconciliations and ensures the accuracy of financial records

  • Ensures the application of proper accounting policies and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), coordinates discussions with the Controller on GAAP considerations

  • Assists with preparing the annual budget, forecasting, and financial statistics while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations

  • Supports the Accounting team with completion of external audits of the Company

  • Reviews/prepares regular and ad hoc reports and analysis, as needed

  • Other duties as required

Experience, Skills and Education

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, preferred

Experience:

  • Seven (7) or more years of general accounting and/or financial reporting and analysis experience, required

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and compliance, required

  • Five (5) or more years of management experience, preferred

  • Experience with a Public Accounting Firm as experienced Manager or Director level, or experience with a multi-location healthcare company, preferred

License/Certifications:

  • Active CPA, preferred

Software:

  • Advanced in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, required

  • Experience using GreatPlains ERP (GP), preferred

  • Experience using Next Generation ERP (NextGen), a plus

Language:

  • English

  • Superior verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment, and handle multiple projects/tasks with an attention to detail

  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with professionals at all levels as well as the capability to build and maintain strong relationships with other departments and service providers

  • Ability to successfully multi-task while working independently or within a group environment

  • Projects confidence and expertise; communicates in a clear and concise manner that emphasizes key points; persuades others to their points of view; self-aware – knows when an approach is not working and can change course immediately
